January – That long, cold, dark month after the anticipation of Christmas. January is that month that seems to go on forever, it felt like payday was an eternity away. Even though it was the same day as every month in 2019.

Some people decided to go SOBER and complete DRY-JAN, although that has never been for me.   That would make January even longer.   There were lots of offers going on in January including a lovely free Nandos.

Here is a quick round up of 5 places I ate in Janaury 2020

  1. The Hoop and Grapes, which is a Nicholson Pub. It is located in Aldgate. This pub has lots of history, it survived The great fire of London back in 1666 because of its timber.

When I visited back in January it was close to “Burns Night”.

Therefore I was lucky to  try some heart and belly warming Scottish food, in anticipation for their Burns Night Menu.

Up first was the Haggis and Chicken and then the Veg Pot pie, washed down with Scottish Whisky.  For Dessert I had Cranachan – a Scottish dessert that consists of raspberries, cream, honey and oats.

Winter Dishes 💭⁣ ⁣ 📷 Toad in the hole and Root Veg Hot Pot (vegan)🌱 ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ Toad in the hole reminds me of being in school and doing “home economics/Food Technology”. We learnt to make this and I think that’s when my addiction to Yorkshire puds really started. ⁣ ⁣ Toad in the hole literally is one of the best winter dinners ever. ⁣ ⁣ I could eat Yorkshire puddings forever 😂😂 ⁣ Anyone else have memories of food tech 👩🏾‍🍳 👨🏻‍🍳 ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ ⁣#yorkshirepudding #dinnerideas ⁣ #nicholson ⁣ #pubgrub ⁣ #greatbritishfood ⁣ #englishfoodie ⁣ #englishfood ⁣ #englishpub ⁣ #aldgateeast #londoneats ⁣ #toadinthehole ⁣ #throwback🔙 ⁣ ⁣#shotoncanon #timeoutlondon #gravytrain

2. Parlour Bar located in Canary Wharf.

Parlour Bar is part of Drake and Morgan and they had an offer for 2 meals and 2 drinks for £20. I did not actually take up this offer as my friend and I met up at 11 am.

3. Crust Bros in Waterloo.

Pizza’s here start at just £6.00 I built my own pictured, Gluten Free and Vegan options are available here.

I opted to create my own Pizza using the menu.

Service is quick and this spot is less that a minutes walk from Waterloo train station.

4.  Big Easy   in Canary Wharf

I cannot get enough of this place honestly. Seafood, Cornbread, Live Music and cocktails in Canary Wharf?

A dream

Big Easy has something on the menu for everyone and it doesn’t break the bak.

5.  Whittards of Chelsea

The weather was insane so I took shelter in Whittards for some White Hot Chocolate. Okay I know this is not necessarily food but it was delicious.  I first discovered White Hot Chocolates when I went to New York in Summer 2014.

Even if you do not like Hot Chocolate there is something here for you/ There are food options available including afternoon tea.

Have you been to any of these places? What did you think?
